Paintings on Silk The circumstances of my life have offered me seeing life from very different perspectives and that is reflected in my artwork. I have lived in various cultures beginning with my early years behind the Iron Curtain. My awareness for the bandwidth of life is further heightened by the contrast of living most of my life first in a big city (Berlin) and now in a remote area of Washington State. My art is a means of voicing my concerns and expressing my appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. By taking advantage of the brilliance of the dyes and the beauty of silk, my goal is to create beautiful objects with a message. I want my audience to look at things from a different angle. For that purpose I compose my paintings in an unconventional and playful way. My silk paintings lead to the creation of my wearable art in form of hand-painted silk neckties, bow ties and scarves you find at: Please go and visit! |
